I built my home game room that I call
"The Cosmic Arcade" in the basement of the new house my
wife and I were building. I will post some construction
pictures in the future.
The Cosmic Arcade is protected by
the house's Alarm System complete with motion detectors and cameras.
The Cosmic Arcade features a
dedicated electrical system to power all the games. There are
eight different 20 amp circuits. Each circuit has 3 duplex
outlets and are wired into a separate switch. There are a
total of 8 switches located on the wall. By doing this all the
circuits can be turned on and off with a flip of a switch.
This makes turning the games on and off really easy.
The floor is concrete that is
painted with blue garage floor paint with some flakes thrown
in. I used Rust-Oleum Epoxy Shield that I got from Lowes.
The tint is "Midnight Blue."
There are two sets of lights in
the arcade. One set consists of eight recessed lights and the
other are a series of wall sconce lights on a dimmer switch.
The recessed lights are for cleaning up and working on stuff.
The sconce lights are turned on when the games are being played.
The ceiling is just ceiling
tile. I used tile instead of drywall so I could access the
area under the main floor of the house.
The arcade is also tied into the
whole house audio system. There are 4 speakers that pump any
kind of audio into the arcade.
